Lalande de Pomerol

Charming village of 400 inhabitants, nestled in the heart of Libournais, Lalande de Pomerol is borrowed from authenticity, almost timeless … Its church dating from the 12th century testifies to the passage of the hospitallers of Saint John of Jerusalem.

Lulled by the scent of thousands of roses, the emblematic flower of the appellation, it is separated from Pomerol by the Barbanne river, formerly one of the boundaries between the language of Oil and the language of Oc. Recognized Appellation d’Origine Controlée since 1936, it benefits from a geographical location so favorable to the cultivation of the vine that it was already renowned since the first centuries of the Christian era.

An exceptional terroir

Thanks to the proximity of the Atlantic Ocean, the temperature is warm in summer and mild in winter. The benevolence of the Dordogne and its tributaries contributes also in climatic balance, thus favoring the development of the vine by considerably reducing the risk of frost. This precious terroir composed of Merlot and Cabernet Franc rests on a gravelly bed, itself established on a subsoil composed of carted alluvium from Massif Central by the rivers, over the centuries …

The wines of the appellation are recognizable by their intense ruby red robe as deep as velvety, as well as by an aromatic complexity powerful and bouquet.

The Rose

You will not be able to browse our vineyard, walk our paths without crossing the queen of flowers: the Rose.

Beautiful, decorative, fragrant, its role does not stop there! Intimately linked to the history of our appellation, it indicates by its color the name of its owner, it also testifies to the good health of the vines and warns of the risk of disease. The height of consecration, the famous creator of roses Delbard honored our appellation by giving birth in 2013 to the most velvety rose, silky, garnet red perfectly echoing the color so typical of our wines.

After the harvest and fermentation, each vintage is aged separately in French oak barrels, in our cellar, in the heart of our vines. Our blends are made as late as possible, often a few months before bottling at the château, thus maximizing expression and complexity of each of our wines as well as the balance between woody and fruity notes.
