Les Vignobles Gaboriaud, it’s a family story since 1962 … Jean Bernard-Lefebvre, former brewer from Hénin-Liétard in the northern France, moved in the southwest France as a wine merchant in Libourne and bought the Château Bourseau.
From 8 hectares at the time, located at the entrance to the village Lalande de Pomerol, it now covers 15 hectares and has plots of Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
In 1976, Véronique Gaboriaud-Bernard became the general manger. Passionated as on the first day by her job, she has since several years now, been accompanied by her 2 sons, Jérôme and François-Xavier to whom she has been able to transmit her love of the vine. Véronique Gaboriaud-Bernard receives the agricultural merit (Mérite Agricole) in 2016.
As a close-knit and complementary team, year after year, we write the history of the estate through our silky garnet-colored wines. Our wines are produced with the greatest respect for the ecosystem and the terroir, and we have been operating in sustainable agriculture for ten years.
At Vignobles Gaboriaud, we combine tradition with modern techniques for the winemaking and aging of our wines. Winemaking takes place in our winery built in 1960, and renovated in 2002, in stainless steel tanks of small volumes which allows a plot selection. We attach great importance to the aging of our wines which is done in oak barrels of 300 liters. This allows not to impact too much the woody notes while giving it a nice structure, without masking the fruit aromas that make the typicity of our vintages.
The wines of the Château are distinctive, balanced, elegant, with good persistence on the palate and the magazine Vins & Terroirs Authentiques even quotes that we are in « haute couture » at Vignobles Gaboriaud … we would add that it is « cousu main »!
